Aircraft Participating in an Operational Readiness Inspection for the Vermont Air National Guard
SYRACUSE , NY (03/27/2010) Five F-16 Fighting Falcon jets from Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado have been flying missions out of Hancock Field in Syracuse yesterday and today in support of an Air Force operational readiness inspection of the 158th Fighter Wing of the Vermont Air National Guard.
In addition, up to 12 F-16s will be using the Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield at Ft Drum. Hancock Field flight operations are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. and will end at approximately 5 p.m. At Wheeler-Sack, flight operations are scheduled to conclude by 11 p.m.
An operational readiness inspection (“ORI”) is an independent assessment conducted by the Air Force to determine how well a particular unit is prepared to execute its combat mission. As part of the ORI, the F-16s will be flying simulated combat missions in restricted military air space over Ft Drum.
We once again ask the public for their support and patience with increased aircraft activity and noise during this period.
