New Spine/Trauma Surgeon Joins Upstate Orthopedics

(East Syracuse, NY) Dr. Ian Madom, a spine/trauma surgeon, will be joining the Upstate Orthopedics team on Aug. 16, 2010. Madom has recently completed a Trauma Fellowship at Brown University Rhode Island Hospital and a Spine Fellowship at the University of Utah. Surgical fellowships entail extra, intense training above general residencies and medical school in very specific areas of surgery. The surgeon is considered a specialist in that area after completion.

Madom specializes in degenerative conditions and traumatic injuries of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. His primary clinical interests are cervical spine disorders, specifically cervical myelopathy. His research interests are in the area of spinal biomechanics. He practices at the Upstate Bone and Joint Center and operates at Crouse Hospital and University Hospital.
