Police investigate emergency landing of plane on St. Lawrence River

(Alexandria, NY - Aug. 31, 2010) State Police Alexandria Bay investigated the emergency landing of an ultra-lite airplane just after 6:00 PM on the St. Lawrence River near Ironsides Island.

Keene H. Little, age 53 of Grenadier Island, Ontario was operating a home built Quad City Challenger Ultra-lite when he experienced engine trouble forcing him to make an emergency landing on the river. He and a passenger, Richard Starr, age 53 of Cornwall N.Y. were not injured in the landing and transported to shore by a nearby private boater.

NYS Encon and NYS Park Police assisted police at the scene along with the U.S. Coast Guard. The cause remains under investigation by the F.A.A.
