Troopers Seize $4.5 million worth of Cocaine

(Watertown, NY – Sept. 27, 2011) On Sept. 27 at approximately noon, the New York State Police pursuant to a vehicle stop and subsequent commercial vehicle inspection by the NYSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, approximately 106 kilos of cocaine was discovered in the sleeper cab of a tractor trailer.

The stop occurred on State Route 11 in the Town of Antwerp, Jefferson County. The operator of the trailer, identified as 48 year-old, Alain Thuot, of Quebec, Canada, was taken into State Police custody, and turned over to Federal authorities, namely the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Syracuse and held on a Federal detainer.

Thuot will be charged in Federal Court at a later date.

The seized cocaine has a street value of approximately $4.5 million dollars.

 

 

Craigslist ad Leads to Criminal Sex Act Arrest

(Watertown, NY - July 26, 2011) The State Police in Watertown arrested 30 year old Jason Harris, of 223 Main St, Antwerp for two counts of second-degree Criminal Sexual Act, Class D Felonies.

The investigation revealed Harris engaged in oral sexual conduct with a 14-year-old male he had met through an ad he placed on Craigslist.

Harris was arraigned in the Town of Orleans Court by Justice Gill and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

 

State Police Investigate Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident that occurred Monday

 


(Philadelphia, NY-May 16, 2011) State Police in Watertown investigated a three-car, one-person fatal motor vehicle accident on State Route 11 Town of Philadelphia. The accident occurred about 7:22 am May 16 approximately 2 miles north of the Village of Philadelphia.

The victim, 24 year-old, Nicole A. Lallier from New Windsor was travelling northbound on Route 11. The first involved vehicle, operated by 46 year-old, Richard Martin from Rensselaer Falls was travelling southbound on Route 11. The third vehicle involved was behind Martin and was operated by 30 year-old, Nicole Bellinger from Gouverneur.

For an unknown reason, Lallier left her lane of travel and entered the southbound lane and into the path of Martin. Martin attempted evasive action however struck Lallier’s vehicle. Lalliers’s vehicle continued into path of Bellinger’s vehicle striking same.

Lallier was pronounced at the scene and was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s office for post mortem.

Martin was transported to Samaritan Medical Center for complaint of pain.

Bellinger was transported to Gouverneur Hospital for knee and chest pain.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Philadelphia Fire, Antwerp Fire, Indian River Ambulance, and Fort Drum Ambulance.

There were no signs of excessive speed or alcohol use and all parties were wearing their seatbelts.

Ten year old involved in fatal ATV collision

(Antwerp, NY - June 29, 2010) The New York State Police in Watertown are investigating a fatal ATV collision that occurred on 06/29/10 at approximately 8:09 PM.

10 year old David A. Martin of 697, Route 6, Moira was operating a 2006 Polaris four-wheel ATV in a northerly direction on his uncle, Luke S. Martin’s, private property at 36815 Route 28, in the town of Antwerp.  The ATV struck a wire fence, ejecting David who was not wearing a helmet.

Antwerp fire and ambulance responded to the scene, transporting David to Samaritan Medical Center.  David was pronounced dead at Samaritan Medical Center by Dr. Bevan at approximately 9:22 PM.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy which was scheduled for 06/30/10.  This investigation is ongoing.
