(Watertown, NY – March 22, 2011) - On February 20, 2011, at about 10:00AM, State Police from SP Watertown responded to Kinney Drugs, Seaway Plaza, Watertown regarding a reported robbery.

At that location, we learned that a white male with partially concealed identity entered the store, and went to the Pharmacy counter. At the counter, this person handed store employees a note demanding specific controlled substances. No weapon was observed, but discussion between the perpetrator and the pharmacist suggested that the perpetrator might have been armed. The perpetrator left the store after being provided with the controlled substances that he demanded. No one from the store was injured.

The subsequent investigation utilized resources from the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center, Forensic Media Services, which was able to provide digital images of value, which were presented to the public in the form of a press release to the local media. Responses were obtained, and utilizing Fort Drum resources, a suspect was identified as Albert H. Languet III, 37, of Casey Ave, Calcium.

On March 22, 2011 at about 10:00AM, Languet was interviewed relative to this robbery investigation, and during the interview, he made admissions to committing the robbery at Kinney Drugs at the Seaway Plaza on Feb. 20 and further made admissions regarding his involvement in the robbery of the same store in November, 2010, which is the subject of an investigation led by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Languet was subsequently charged by the State Police for one count of third-degree specific to the Kinney Drugs robbery occurring on Feb. 20.

He was arraigned in the Town of Watertown Court and was committed to the Jefferson County PSB in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, pending further action by the court.

State Police were assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Detective Division, who will be filing additional charges specific to their investigation.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Daniel D. Kahnell, 20, was south bound on Route 283, operating a 1993 Dodge pick-up truck. Kahnell, unable to take evasive action, struck pedestrian Ryan J.
