(Herkimer, NY – Sept. 20, 2011) Herkimer County Community College women’s volleyball team lost a close, competitive match to Fulton-Montgomery, 3-0. The Generals next host an invitational tournament on Saturday Sept. 24.

(Sept. 20, 2011) The HCCC Generals outplayed the Delhi Broncos 5-0. Next games are on the road: Finger Lakes Thursday and North Country on Sunday. The next home game is Sept. 28 for MV.

 

Nurses at Oswego Hospital ER Arrested for Stealing Controlled Substances

(Oswego, NY – Sept. 16, 2011) The New York State Police in Fulton, in conjunction with the New York State Department of Health – Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, have arrested three Registered Nurses from the Oswego Hospital within the last month:

On Aug. 16, Shannon M. Salva, 42, of 108 Meays Drive, Syracuse, NY

On Aug. 26, Lori E. Weinheimer, 46, of 1379 County Route 7, Oswego, NY

On Sept. 9, Ryan C. Fleming, 25, of 4070 State Route 69, Mexico, NY

All three nurses were each charged with first-degree Falsifying Business Records (E Felony), and seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (A Misdemeanor) along with additional charges relating to the Public Health Law.

The charges stem from an internal investigation that was initiated by Administrators at the Oswego Hospital.  While on duty within the Emergency Department, the suspects were stealing controlled substances from an automated dispensing system, Omnicell, located within the Emergency Department.  Controlled substances were removed from the Omnicell without a valid physician’s order/prescription.

The Oswego Hospital was able to track the several unauthorized transactions over a period of time and identify the subjects that were responsible.

All three were released on appearance tickets, returnable to the City of Oswego Court.  Their employment status at Oswego Hospital is unknown.

 

Oswego County Man Arrested for Child Pornography

(Fulton, NY – Sept. 14, 2011) On Sept. 14, the New York State Police in Fulton with the assistance of the U.S. Marshall’s Service and the NYSP Computer Crime Unit Central executed a search warrant at a town of Oswego residence which led to the arrest of 48 year-old William J. Knopp.

Knopp was charged with three counts of Possessing a Sexual Performance of a Child and one count of Promoting a Sexual Performance of a Child.

Investigation revealed Knopp possessed several images and videos of children, under the age of 16, involved in assorted sex acts.

Knopp was arraigned in front of Hon. Town Justice James Aluzzi, town of Volney Court, and released.  He is scheduled to reappear on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.

The investigation is continuing.

Volney Traffic Stop Results in Felony Drug Arrest

(Volney, NY – Sept. 12, 2011) On Sunday Sept. 11 at approximately 2:13 p.m., Troopers from NYSP Fulton, observed a speeding gray Toyota Versa Traveling south on State Route 481 in the Town of Volney. The vehicle was occupied by two males.

The driver was identified as Keith A. Raymond, 26, of 60 East 5th Street in Oswego.

Investigation at the scene revealed a plastic bag containing hallucinogenic mushrooms secreted under the passenger side dash.

Raymond was arrested and charged with third-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class B felony. The passenger was not charged.

Raymond was arraigned in the Volney Town Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail.

 

State Police in Fulton locate Hannibal Robbery suspect

(Hannibal, NY – Sept. 3, 2011) State Police in Fulton arrested Robert D. Gioia, 22, charging him with third-degree Robbery (Class D Felony), and second-degree Burglary (Class C Felony).

On Sept. 2 at approximately 4:08 p.m. Fulton Troopers were dispatched to a robbery in progress at 393 Rathburn Road, Lot 23, in the Town of Hannibal.

The investigation determined that Gioia entered the residence at Lot 23, and stole a purse along with a hand bag from within.  The victim reported $500 cash, several packs of cigarettes, and credit cards as items that were within the stolen purse and handbag.

During the incident, a struggle ensued between Gioia and the female victim/resident, where she was allegedly shoved onto a couch by Gioia during the theft.  Gioia fled the scene on foot in the woods.

Gioia was located Sept. 3 after being spotted by Trooper Alex Kurilovitch within a vehicle that was traveling on State Route 3 in the Town of Granby.

Gioia was taken into custody and additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana after a small quantity of marijuana was located in his pocket.

Gioia was arraigned in the Town of Hannibal Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail on $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond.

Two Granby Men Arrested after Traffic Stop

(Granby, NY – Sept. 4, 2011) On Sept. 3 at approximately 3:30 a.m. Troopers from NYSP Fulton stopped a Chrysler Cirrus at 64 Junior Ave. in the Town of Granby for traffic violations.

The investigation revealed the operator, James B Barnes, 37, of 21 Senior Ave., Fulton was operating while intoxicated.

During the Traffic stop, the resident of 64 Junior Ave., Gary A Royce, 66, approached the Troopers and physically obstructed their investigation. After numerous warnings to move away, Royce attempted to move between the Troopers and Barnes, who had been placed under arrest for DWI.

Royce was then arrested for Obstruction of Governmental Administration.

Both Barnes and Royce were arrested and issued appearance tickets to appear in Granby Town Court Sept. 13.

 

Pennellville Man Arrested for Stealing Motorcycle

(Fulton, NY – Sept. 3, 2011) New York State Police in Fulton arrested Ray H. Ross II, 32, of 744 County Route 10, Lot 103, Pennellville, charging him with one count of third-degree Grand Larceny, a class D Felony.

On Aug. 27 at approximately 11 p.m. a 2001 Harley Davidson, FXSTDI Softail Duece model was reported stolen from the parking area of Monirae’s bar, 688 County Route 10 in Pennellville.

The motorcycle was located the following day in the Town of Manlius, Onondaga County.  The investigation developed Ross as a suspect, who was located and arrested on Sept. 3.

Ross was taken into custody by Fulton Troopers after he was found hiding in a closet in a Village of Minoa apartment.

Ross was arraigned in Oswego County and remanded to the Oswego County Jail on $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond.

 

State Police in Fulton requesting the public’s assistance

(Fulton, NY – Aug. 30, 2011) The New York State Police in Fulton recently arrested Zachary J. Jordan, 23, for third-degree and fourth-degree Grand Larceny, third-degree Burglary and first-degree Falsifying Business Records.

The arrest was the result of investigations that occurred over several months involving the theft of a 2005 Suzuki ATV and a 2005 Dodge Ram pick-up, both of which have been recovered.

Jordan resided on County Line Road in the Oswego County, Town of Granby at the time of the thefts.

Jordan subsequently traded the ATV over Craigslist to a subject who was unaware of its stolen status, due to the fact that the original VIN#s had been changed and falsified.  Jordan was an active Craigslist user by trading and selling several items, including vehicles.

The State Police in Fulton would like to hear from anyone who has had prior dealings with Jordan over Craigslist or other means of buying/trading.

Camden Man Arrested for Oswego County Vehicle Thefts

(Fulton, NY – Aug. 25, 2011) The New York State Police in Fulton report the arrest of Zachary J Jordan, 23, of #5 Vorhee’s St., Camden for one count of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, one count of third-degree Burglary and one count of first-degree Falsifying Business Records.

Jordan is charged with stealing a 2005 Suzuki ATV during late March, early April 2011 from a garage located on CR-8 in the town of Granby, Oswego County. He then falsified NYS DMV Sales Certificate and Ownership records in an effort to conceal the larceny of the ATV.

Jordan is also charged with stealing a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 P/U from the driveway of a residence located on ST-104, in the town of Oswego during the month of July 2011.

The New York State Police were assisted by Members of the city of Rome Police Department and village of Camden Police Department.

The ATV and pick-up have both been recovered and the investigation is continuing.

 

8 year old boy involved in Palermo golf cart incident has died

(Palermo, NY – Aug. 12, 2011) At approximately 2:15 p.m. Aug. 12, the New York State Police in Fulton were dispatched to Goodfellow Road in the Town of Palermo for a personal injury accident involving a golf cart.

The investigation revealed that two 8 year old boys who were life-long best friends, had been driving around private property on an electric golf cart.  Curtis Mace was driving an EZ-Go brand golf cart around the property with his best friend, Cole Dolbear, who was riding on the rear of the cart.

Dolbear had fallen off the back of the cart and was then accidentally backed over by the rear of the golf cart. Mace was unaware that his friend had fallen off the cart when this occurred.

Life saving measures were attempted at the scene by parents and members of the Palermo Volunteer Fire Department who had been dispatched to the scene.

Dolbear was transported by Menter’s Ambulance to Oswego Hospital with a serious head injury, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The boys’ respective elementary schools have been notified and will be providing grief counseling to students.
