State Police Investigate Stolen Lawn Mowers from Oswego County

(Hastings, NY – Aug. 31, 2011) State Police in Hastings is requesting the public’s assistance in attempting to locate and/or identify the following suspects and property relative to larcenies, which occurred on June 21, 2011, and Aug. 24, 2011, from Kleis Equipment located at 1837 State Route 49, Town of Constantia.

Both investigations involve the theft of Hustler Zero Turn Lawn Mowers further described/pictured below. (Not actual photo’s of the stolen mowers)

Phoenix Man Arrested for Criminal Possession of Weapon

(Town of Hastings, NY – Aug. 10 2011) The New York Police in Fulton have arrested Kenneth M. Holland Jr., 29, of 9354 River Road, Phoenix for three Felony Counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Investigation conducted on a traffic stop revealed that in addition to operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, Holland was in possession of three fully loaded 30 round magazines for a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 Rifle.  The magazines are illegal due to being manufactured after September 1994, having too large of a capacity, and being clearly marked “restricted/military/govt use only”

He was arraigned and released to appear Aug. 29 in the Town of Hastings Court.

 

 

Road Rage Incident Leads to Two Arrests

(West Monroe, NY – July 1, 2011) New York State Police in Hastings arrested two individuals after a road rage incident that occurred in the Town of West Monroe.

Darren C. Spalsbury, 19, of 2595 Route 37, Central Square was arrested and charged with first-degree Reckless Endangerment 1st degree (Class D Felony), second-degree Menacing (Class A Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor), and two counts of second-degree Harrasment (Violations).

Spalsbury confronted a motorist on County Route 37 in the Town of West Monroe whom he allegedly had an issue with regarding him following in his vehicle too closely to Spalsbury.  Spalsbury stopped his vehicle abruptly in the middle of the northbound lane of County Route 37, got out of his car brandishing a knife, and threatened to stab the other motorist with it.

Another subject who was in the area attempted to diffuse the situation and convince Spalsbury to remain at the scene while awaiting police arrival.

Spalsbury got back in his car and drove his vehicle towards this subject, nearly striking him on three separate occasions.  Spalsbury again exited his vehicle and began shoving other passing motorists that stopped to help.

Spalsbury was taken into custody upon arrival of Troopers with assistance from Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputies.

A female in Spalsbury’s vehicle, Christina M. Shelter, 19, attempted to prevent the arrest of Spalsbury and was charged with Obstructing Government Administration (Class A Misdemeanor).

Shelter was released with an appearance ticket.

Spalsbury was arraigned in the West Monroe Town Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail on $6,000 cash bail/$12,000 bail bond.

 

 

Fatal Crash Kills Two

(Hastings, NY – January 29, 2011) State Police at Hastings are investigating a two vehicle/two person fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on Jan. 28 at approximately 11:10 p.m. on County Route 26, Town of Parish.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1990 Toyota Corolla, operated by 22-year-old Christopher S. Bullock, from 631 Rider St., Parish was traveling eastbound on County Route 26 on a snow covered roadway.

The second vehicle, a 1991 Toyota Camry, operated by 24-year-old Nathan A. Thomas, from 27 Kipp Road, Parish was traveling westbound when the two vehicles collide just left of their respective front license plates.

Both operators and sole occupants of the vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene by SOVAC Ambulance and Parish Fire Department personnel.

The investigation is continuing at this time.

Canal Corporation Announces Floating Docks Reopen for Public Use in Brewerton

ALBANY, NY (05/13/2010)(readMedia)– The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that the floating docks in the Town of Hastings will once again be available for public use on Friday, May 14, 2010.

The floating docks can be accessed from East River Road.

The Canal Corporation temporarily closed the floating docks when part of the concrete Brewerton Pier fell into the water on Saturday, May 8, 2010, due to structural deficiencies. The pier will remain closed indefinitely until it can be replaced.
