(Watertown, NY – Sept. 18, 2011) State Police in Watertown Bureau of Criminal Investigation along with the Troop D Computer Crimes Unit announce the conclusion of a month long investigation with the arrest of Fort Drum Army Sergeant Jonathan McGeoch, 27, for first-degree Attempted Dissemination of Indecent Material to a Minor and Possessing a Sexual Performance of a child. (Both class “E” Felonies).

The investigation revealed that McGeoch arranged to meet two underage boys in the Watertown area for the purpose of sexual contact utilizing the social networking site “Facebook.”

McGeoch was arraigned in the Town of Leray Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Justice Center in lieu of $30,000 bail/ $60,000 bond.

 

 

Evans Mills woman arrested for leaving kids alone

(Watertown, NY – Aug. 23, 2011) The State Police in Watertown arrested Angelica M. Abell, 28, of 26793 Libby Lane, Evans Mills on two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The arrest stems from a check the welfare of the defendant’s 4 and 5 year old children being left alone for more than two hours at their residence.

Jefferson County Child Protective Services assisted with this case.

Subject was issued an appearance ticket to return to town of Leray Court Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.

 

 

State Police arrest man for Burglary on Fort Drum

(Watertown, NY – Aug. 11, 2011) The State Police in Watertown arrested Reinhart C. Meyers, 57, of County Route 197 Woolworth St., Great Bend on one count of third-degree Burglary, a Class D Felony and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Meyers was found in possession of a stolen refrigerator from Ft. Drum barracks slated for destruction. He was detained by Ft. Drum authorities and turned over to the State Police for prosecution.

Meyers is not an active duty soldier. He was accompanied by a 16 year old male.

Defendant was arraigned before Town Leray Town Justice John Hallett and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building with bail set at $1,500 pending Grand Jury action.

Man arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child

(Watertown, NY – July 27, 2011) The State Police in Watertown arrested John C. Lawrence, 23, of 99066A Mountain View Drive, Ft. Drum for third-degree Sex Abuse and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The investigation revealed that Lawrence did expose himself and did touch the sexual parts of an underage girl on a trail near the Cresent Wood Housing area on Ft. Drum.

Lawrence was arraigned in the Town of Leray Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.  I

nformation was developed with the assistance with Ft. Drum CID Agents that  Lawrence frequents the bike trails and the basketball court on Ft. Drum and may have solicited other young girls to engage in sexual intercourse or conduct with.

Lawrence is not active military, but a dependant thereof.

West Carthage Woman Arrested for Forgery

(Carthage, NY – June 29, 2011) On June 28 State Police in Carthage arrested 19 year-old, Elizabeth Childrey of 22 Bridge Street, West Carthage for second-degree Forgery, a class “D” Felony, and third-degree Identity Theft, a class “A” Misdemeanor.

On June 13 Childrey used a stolen credit card at a Super Walmart store in the Town of LeRay by forging the complainant’s signature to obtain goods from the store.

She was arraigned in the Village of West Carthage before Judge Delmar House and remanded to Jefferson County Correctional in Lieu of $1,000 cash / $6,000 bond.

The defendant is scheduled to reappear back in court on July 1 at 9 a.m.

 

 

State Police in Watertown arrest fugitive from justice

(Watertown, NY - May 20, 2010) The State Police in Watertown arrested Jeremy A. McNeil, 34, of 25521 Ridge Road, Watertown for being a Fugitive from Justice. ‘

Police said McNeil is wanted for the Felony of Shoplifting and Failure to comply with a Court order by the Superior Court in the State of New Hampshire.

He was arraigned before town of Leray Justice George Meade and remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety Building pending extradition proceedings to Massachusetts.

 

 

Watertown Man arrested for Criminal Mischief and Petit Larceny

(Watertown, NY - May 12, 2011) The State Police in Watertown arrested Richard J. Gebo, 40, of 136 Palmer St., upper apt, Watertown for one count of second-degree Criminal Mischief, Class D Felony and Petit Larceny.  The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 19 at the Super Walmart, Route 11 in the Town of Leray.

Gebo did steal a computer and exited the store with same through an approximate 3×3 foot hole he had cut in the fence surrounding the Garden center, police said. An arrest warrant was applied for and Gebo was located and subsequently arrested by the Watertown Police Department on April 12 and then turned over to the State Police.

Gebo was further charged with a separate petit larceny where he is accused of stealing DVD’s from Sam’s Club.

Gebo was arraigned in the Town of Leray Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail without Bail.

 

Charges Made in Domestic Dispute

(Watertown, NY – May 7, 2011) The State Police in Watertown arrested 22-year-old Jerry W. Marley with one count of Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, Menacing 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of A Child.

Marley was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife at their residence located at 26198 Herrier Court in the Town of Leray During the dispute Marley did threaten his wife with a loaded 12 gauge shotgun in the presence of his two children.

Marley was arraigned in the Town of Leray Court and remanded to the custody of military authorities. The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Dept with patrols and with the use of their Robot for apprehension of the suspect.

 

Police Seek Publics Help with Burglary

(Town of Leray, NY – April 29, 2011) The State Police in Watertown are requesting the publics assistance in the investigation of a home burglary where a large amount of jewelry, coins and a handgun were stolen.

The burglary occurred at 29588 County Route 46 in the Town of Leray, near Evans Mills, sometime between April 15 and April 24. Some of the unique items that were taken were gold and silver pocket watches, a Kinneys 100th anniversary gold watch, 1987 Indian River class ring, four Zippo lighters with engraving and a large amount of misc jewelry. Coin collectibles were also taken, which included 12 silver dollars, a state quarter collection and various other coins.

Anyone who believes they may have information in this case is asked to please contact The State Police at 782-2112. Information can remain confidential. There is a reward being offered for any information that leads to conviction in this case.

Animal Cruelty Arrest Made

(Carthage, NY) On March 30, 2011 New York State Police in Carthage arrested 24-year-old Justin Williams from Calcium for Cruelty to an Animal under the New York State Agricultural and Markets Law.

Williams allegedly threw a 2-year-old, Black Lab mix dog off a 15 foot riverbank in the Town of Le Ray, into the Black River. The dog was able to get out of the river downstream, and back onto dry land where a passerby found it and notified the Fort Drum Game Warden’s Office.

Williams was issued an Appearance Ticket to appear in the Town of Le Ray Court on April 4, 2011.
