Cicero man arrested for aggravated DWI, AUO

(Syracuse, NY – May 2011) On May 29 Gerald S. Thibault, 29, of 7244 Lake Shore Road, Cicero was arrested by the New York State Police – Syracuse for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (BAC > .18%) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st (both felonies) after he was stopped for an equipment violation near Carrier Circle.

Thibault was found to have a BAC of .24 percent.

He was released to appear in the Town of Salina court on June 15 at 5:00 pm.

Driver Arrested after Roll-Over Accident

(Salina, NY – May 12, 2011)  State Police in North Syracuse are investigating a rollover accident that occurred shortly before 9:30 am May 12 on Interstate 81 southbound on the Northern Lights Bridge.

The investigation revealed that the driver, 26 year-old, Christopher R. Biddlecome from 5562 Bear Road Apt. N-1 Clay, NY was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent south from the Taft Road on-ramp to I-81 when he lost control, striking the middle concrete barrier and rolling over and landing on the vehicle’s roof.  No other vehicles were struck or involved in the accident.  The driver then exited the vehicle and flagged down a passing motorist who drove the driver to the Pilot Truck Stop on 7th North Street in Salina.

Troopers responded to the Truck Stop where Biddlecome was then taken into custody.

The investigation also determined that the vehicle Biddlecome was driving was reported stolen at 2:20am this morning from the parking lot of the K-Mart Plaza on Brewerton Road in Mattydale.

The owner reported the car stolen after he discovered it missing outside a business in the plaza where he worked as a custodian.

Biddlecome was arrested and charged with the following:

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree, class “E” felony.

Driving While Intoxicated, class “E” felony.

Aggravated DWI – with a BAC of .18%, a class “E” felony.

He was arraigned in the Town of Salina Court and is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

 

Driver Ticketed After Truck Strikes Parkway Bridge

(Town of Salina, NY – May 11, 2011) Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that the driver responsible for crashing into the CSX railroad bridge has been ticketed.

This afternoon at approximately 1:30pm, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Onondaga Lake Parkway to investigate reports of a truck crashing into the CSX railroad bridge. A 26’ Ryder rental truck, operated by Melvin Arras (60), of Fulton was traveling north on Onondaga Lake Parkway when it struck the railroad bridge.

After the collision, Arras continued traveling north before pulling into the parking lot of the Liverpool Village Animal Hospital.

Arras, an employee of O’Brien and Gere, was hauling computer and electrical equipment to the company’s Morgan Road Facility.

Deputies were forced to close the northbound lanes of Onondaga Lake Parkway for approximately 1 ¼ hours while work crew from the New York State Department of Transportation cleared debris from the roadway. The height of the CSX bridge is posted to be 10’ 9” and the height of the truck is listed as being 13’

Deputies report that no one was injured nor were other vehicles involved. Arras was issued a traffic ticket for failure to comply with a traffic control device and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Baldwinsville man arrested for DWI on the Thruway

(Syracuse, NY – April 3, 2011) On April 3 Christopher S. Laffin,  46, of 7268 Van Buren Road, Baldwinsville was arrested by the New York State Police – Syracuse for Driving While Intoxicated after being stopped for having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in his vehicle on the Thruway.

Laffin was also charged with Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law) when it was determined that his 14 year old son was a passenger in the vehicle.

He was found to have a BAC of .11 percent.

The Onondaga County DA’s Office was contacted and recommended a bail of $5,000 cash/bond.

Laffin was arraigned before Town of Salina Town Justice Carey and remanded to the Onondaga County jail in lieu of $1,500 cash/bond to return to the Town of Salina court on April 4 at 4 p.m.

Salina Man Arrested for DWI after Driving Vehicle off Roadway

(Cicero, NY – Feb. 17, 2011) State Police in North Syracuse arrested 40 year-old Thomas J. Harrington Jr. of Bailey Road, Town of Salina, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a class ‘E’ felony.

On Feb. 16 at 9:13 PM, a motorist called 911 to report that a pick-up truck had driven off the on-ramp to Interstate 81 southbound from E. Taft Rd., Town of Cicero. When the trooper arrived he observed the operator walking away from a vehicle that was off the roadway in the snow.

The man, Harrington Jr., was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for DWI. His BAC was .22 percent.  He was issued traffic tickets and released.
